FILM: LAST VEGAS
STARRING: Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline, Morgan Freeman
DIRECTOR: John Turteltaub
Las Vegas is a comedy without many laughs, based on ’The Hangover’ (for geriatrics) without a good script, featuring a stellar cast that have done their careers no favours by being part of this very poorly written and directed film. A reasonable idea that was poorly executed.
Four life-long friends embark on a weekend trip to Las Vegas to celebrate the forthcoming wedding of one of their group - 70 year old Billy (Michael Douglas) - to his 34 year old girlfriend. Over the weekend the foursome go through a miss-mash of disjointed man cave scenes involving lots of semi-naked girls, transvestites, heavy drinking sessions and gambling, with very little plot or decent dialogue. All of these fine actors seem almost bewildered by their roles and play them mechanically and without building any real empathy or interest from the audience.
We found the movie quite boring, lacking in believability and any real entertainment. Don’t spend money on seeing it at the theatre - it will be on DVD in no time.
